Setup Matters

WiX v4.0.2 is now available.

Rob suggested I would control how long today's meeting lasted because many of the issues were mine and some that weren't had questions from me anyway. I countered that idea by suggesting that almost all meetings could go very quickly if everyone just agreed with me. You might notice that we held today's meeting anyway.

Our triage today was fairly noncontroversial and went quickly...mostly because we postponed the issue that we didn't finish last meeting. Don't worry; its time is coming.

Today is 8/8 so no matter which date format you use, it's the eighth day of the eighth month...unless you don't like base 10. Read on to hear about the status of WiX v4.0.2 and parts of WiX v5, in addition to our tried and true triage.

Today's meeting was relatively quick -- because we had only a handful of issues to triage -- and quiet, because the to-be-triaged issues were relatively noncontroversial. (We did surprise and delight the audience by announcing WiX v4.0.2, coming very soon.) I appreciate peaceful and short meetings as much as the next person, but if you're looking for more action in your favorite open-source triage meetings, go find a bug in WiX that has the potential for virtual fisticuffs.

Today was all about the triage. Included in triage were three of the WIPs I wrote for the features I plan to implement in WiX v5. We didn't discuss them today but please do read them and comment. We'll likely discuss them at a future meeting, but as I write the meeting highlights, I get to draw extra attention to them here today. That's one of the powers of the pen.
