Since our last meeting, winter has settled in here in the northern hemisphere. Personally, I'm not a fan. It's cold, which brings the need for gloves and hats. It's snowy and icy, which means boots and comically slipping in public. On the plus side, it encourages developers to stay indoors where it's warm and you have big monitors and nice mechanical keyboards. Maybe that's why we schedule WiX releases for the spring? Well, it's coming up this year quickly: WiX v7.0.0-rc.1 ships in two weeks.

WiX Online Meeting 303 Highlights
Issue triage
-
Visually appearing heading ‘NPS Extension for Azure MFA’ text is not defined as a heading., from @msftedad, requests some accessibility support that isn’t currently supported by WixStdBA. It’s easy to conclude that we WiX developers are experts in everything but, believe it or not, there are things that are slightly beyond our ken (or Barbie). Accessibility is one of those rare things, so this issue is
up for grabsfor an accessibility expert to lend a hand. -
Files/@Include and Exclude/@Files treat directory names case-sensitively, from @chrullrich, reports a minor issue when mixing and matching the case of file names when using
Files. Rob volunteered to take a look. -
Burn does not repair an MSI when slipstreamed with a minor update patch, from @rseanhall, came to mind after working with a FireGiant customer facing a similar issue. The good news is that there is a potential fix that isn’t too scary, so I’ll keep on testing that to get it in shape for WiX v7.0.0-rc.1.
WiX 7 checkin
Speaking of WiX v7.0.0-rc.1, it’s almost time. Two weeks and a day from now, we’re scheduled to ship v7.0.0-rc.1. We reviewed the bugs assigned to that milestone and trimmed a few that won’t fit and another few that are long-term issues we chip at every release. Next month’s meeting is a couple weeks after WiX v7.0.0-rc.1 ships, so hopefully then we’ll be celebrating the dearth of reported bugs and happily confident of WiX v7.0.0-rc.2 on 5-March and WiX v7.0.0-rtm on 6-April.
