Today's WiX Online Meeting is the first in 2019. So far, 2019 is feeling a lot like 2018 but we hope that will improve as 2019 matures.
Unable to find wix toolset 3.6 installer for windows, from @mounikapk, requests an old build of WiX v3.x. Unfortunately, when Codeplex shut down, they didn't just make the site read-only, they "archived" the content. WiX v3.6 is still available from the Codeplex archive but it's not trivial to find. Because WiX v3.6 is vulnerable to the DLL hijacking attack, we've chosen not to do the extra work to somehow make those vulnerable versions available.
Accelerator Keys not working as expected in WiX Bundle using wixstdba, from @0ptikGhost, reports an oddity with the handling of hotkeys (Alt+shortcut character) in WixStdBA themes. We took the issue into WiX v4.x in our ongoing aim for perfection.
light.exe fails even if the path does not contain unicode characters, from @MarekKosinski, reports an exception coming during the bind process. We're not sure what's going on, so we asked for more information and will review the issue at our next meeting.
We digressed for a while talking about case-sensitive file systems and the use of NuGet packages in WiX v4, as one does. Check out the meeting video above to vicariously participate.
